North Island College is seeking a qualified instructor for our Joinery and Cabinetmaking program. Responsibilities include program development, tool and equipment maintenance, and guiding students as they learn a broad range of introductory and advanced woodworking processes.

The teaching faculty of North Island College are responsible for implementing the College's vision, goals, and objectives as they relate to teaching and learning. To carry out their teaching assignments, faculty use organizational skills, inter-personal skills, and their knowledge of subject matter, pedagogy, and curricular design. In addition, they have a responsibility to serve as role models for students and colleagues.

Qualifications

• Journeyperson Interprovincial Qualification in Joinery (Red Seal);
  
• Minimum of 5 years experience as a journeyperson in all aspects of the joinery trade;
  
• Demonstrated proficiency designing, building and finishing custom furniture;
  
• Experience setting up and maintaining woodworking tools;
  
• Experience using CAD and CNC machines;
  
• Completion of the Provincial Instructors Diploma program;
  
• Familiarity with the BC Joinery program outline;
  
• Experience setting up training programs;
  
• Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills;
  
• Demonstrated excellent instructional abilities, using creative and motivating approaches to stimulate learning, including the use of instructional technologies;
  
• Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to plan and prioritize, and efficiently meet deadlines;
  
• Proficiency with MS Office software applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, the internet and web-based applications;
  
• A demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement.
