ACCC
Networks and Affinity Groups
Groups
of individual members of the college community who share a
similar position (deans, students, etc.), a similar sectoral
focus (admin., faculty and students of nursing or of the
environmental technologies) or some other common interest
(promotion of aboriginal studies and programs for example) who
come together to share ideas, best & worst practices, advocacy
concerns and who occasionally organize joint activities
(such as workshops and meetings at the ACCC Annual Conference)
to explore and promote their common interests.
In
the past some affinity groups have grown out of meetings at
the ACCC Annual Conference and later established themselves
as more formal entities (the National Council of Deans of Technology
for example), while others are now developing through
ACCC-supported networks as part of the current efforts to improve
pan-Canadian labour market information and more coordinated
actions in the various sectors where colleges operate (e.g.
software, environment, nursing, automobile).
