1. What is the timeline for the ACCC Awards of Excellence Program?
The awards program takes place over a calendar year, beginning in September:

September:  Nomination forms are available online for the coming year’s program.  Selection Committees are formed.
October to February:  Nominations are due by Monday, January 30, 2012.
Early February:  Nomination packages are sent electronically to each member of the six (6) Selection Committees for review and evaluation.
Early/mid-March:  Results are compiled and sent to each Selection Committee for final approval.
Late March:  Recipients for that year are announced to all winning and non-winning institutions.
April to May:  Winning institutions prepare video segment of their winner.
Late May/Early June:  Award recipients are recognized at the 2012 World Congress.
June to September:  Recipients are featured on the ACCC website.
September to November:  Local recognition events take place.

2. What awards are offered?
Each Award of Excellence category has three levels:  Bronze, Silver and Gold.  The Gold Award is reserved for outstanding nominees that exceed the criteria in each category.

3. Who is eligible to participate?
Members of ACCC are invited to submit ONE nomination for each Award category.  The nomination must be prepared and submitted by someone other than the nominee.

4. What materials are eligible for submission?
The nomination form for each specific category must be completed and all supporting documents must be scanned and attached electronically.

5. Does our nomination(s) have to be bilingual?
No, as all Selection Committee members must have the capacity to evaluate nominations in both official languages.

6. What is the deadline for submissions?
All submissions must be received electronically by nsenechal@accc.ca no later than Monday, January 30, 2012.  Submissions must be submitted in Word or PDF format.

7. Will my institution be notified when our nomination(s) are received electronically?
Acknowledgement of receipt will be sent electronically to the person who submitted the nomination(s).

8. How will we be notified of the status of our nomination(s)?
Nominations are reviewed during the month of February.  Winners and non-winners will be notified by email to the institution's President’s office in late March.  All winners will posted on the ACCC website following the official announcement at the 2012 World Congress.

9. What recognition do winners receive?

Gold Award recipients:

  • Honoured at the 2012 World Congress (May 26-29 in Halifax, NS)
  • One Full Conference Registration at no cost
  • Personalized Award Plaque
  • Featured in the 2012 World Congress Program and on the ACCC website

Silver & Bronze Award recipients:

  • Recognized at the 2012 World Congress (May 26-29 in Halifax, NS)
  • Personalized Award Certificate
  • Featured in the 2012 World Congress Program and on the ACCC website

All Award winners should also be honoured with an on-campus award presentation.

10. If we receive an Award, what costs are covered?
ACCC will cover the full conference registration fee for Gold Award recipients. However Institutions will cover travel, accommodation and meal costs.
