President & CEO's Office
James Knight assumed the role of President & CEO
on November 1, 2007.
Reporting through the Chair and the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors, the President & CEO is accountable to the Board to ensure the fulfilment of ACCC’s mission. The President & CEO is responsible for planning and administration in accordance with the By-laws, policies and other directions of the Board. The President & CEO is also responsible for service to members consistent with the objectives of the Association.
General Functions

The President & CEO is the chief advisor to the Board. As such, he works closely with the Board in developing and communicating the basic philosophy of the Association and its long range goals.

The President & CEO identifies issues that require Board decisions and brings them to the Board along with his/her recommendations.

The President & CEO interprets policies approved by the Board and administers and monitors their implementation to ensure that the latter is consistent with the intent.

The President provides leadership in conducting research and developing ideas and activities which strengthen the system of Colleges and Institutes in Canada.

The President & CEO ensures relationships beneficial to the ACCC through the development and maintenance of constructive contacts with appropriate senior officials nationally and internationally in education, government, other relevant sectors, and especially with the member institutions in all provincial/territorial jurisdictions.

The President & CEO is the direct supervisor of and is accountable for the performance of the management staff and through them, all employees of ACCC
