About ACCC

Structure and Overview

The Board of Directors of the Association is composed of 12 college and institute presidents from across the country. The Board also has the option of adding up to four directors from outside the college and institute system.

This governance structure empowers the Association’s ability to strategically advocate in the national and international arenas as well as support its member institutions as they address challenges and opportunities in the post-secondary education sector.

The Board is elected at the Annual General Meeting of the ACCC at its Annual Conference.

Within the guidelines specified by the By-Laws of the Association, the Board of Directors has a responsibility to the membership to provide leadership to the Association for all of its programs, facilities, and resources. Members of the Board have a responsibility to ensure that the views of their region are made known, while also recognizing that they vote as a member of a Board which has the best interests of Canadian post-secondary education in mind.

The Board of Directors' internal relationships require that they:

  • provide direction to the President & CEO, and through that office to the senior administrative staff of the Association as required;

  • give direction to the Executive Committee related to the overall operation of the Association.

The Chair of the Board of Directors for 2009-2010 is Marilyn Luscombe.
